Job Description

As a Data Engineering Lead at Fabory, you will oversee the development of our data infrastructure. This role requires strategic leadership and hands-on experience in data engineering. Your primary responsibility will be to design, build, and maintain the data architecture that supports our business intelligence, analytics, and data-driven decision-making processes. You will work closely with various departments to translate technical requirements into practical data solutions that align with our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain relationships with internal teams (sales, operations) and external stakeholders (customers) to gather valuable input and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the data engineering team and other departments, ensuring data solutions align with business goals.
  • Design and implement data architectures, pipelines, and storage solutions, engaging in hands-on coding, code reviews, and adhering to best practices in data engineering.
  • Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, fostering a collaborative environment and providing growth opportunities for the team.
  • Define project requirements and work with various departments to monitor the progress of data-related projects and participate in testing.
  • Advise BI and data colleagues on data modeling and reporting, aligning goals and best practices with data users, producers, and consumers.

  • Manage complex aspects of information management and analytics.
  • Stay updated on rapid developments in data technology.
  • Navigate different opinions and ensure alignment within the team and organization.

Requirements:
  • IT education, preferably at the bachelor's or master's level.
  • A minimum of five years of hands-on experience in data management or business analysis.
  • Expertise in data engineering, including database design, ETL processes, and programming languages such as SQL, Python, or Scala. Experience with cloud data technologies is a plus.
  • Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools.
  • Excellent analytical skills and a data-driven mindset.
  • Self-directed, flexible, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills in both Dutch and English.

Working Conditions:
  • Full-time position (32-40 hours per week).
  • Salary indication: €4200 - €5500, depending on experience and skills.
  • Reports directly to the IT Director and collaborates closely with the BI team, Sales, Operations, and IT departments.
