Background InformationASML is the world's leading provider of lithography systems for the semiconductor industry. Our machines are critical to the production of integrated circuits or chips. As a Mechanical Engineering intern, you will have the opportunity to work on a project that involves the analysis of wetting behavior of liquid films and fluid mechanics of a water extraction system.
Your AssignmentYour project will focus on CFD and fluid mechanics. You will analyze the wetting behavior of liquid films and the fluid mechanics of a water extraction system. You will perform numerical simulations of water flow and wetting behavior inside immersion lithography scanners. The challenge in this assignment lies in modeling the proper turbulence damping at the water-gas interface.
Some of Your Tasks May Include:- Perform an extensive literature review of the available turbulence models;
- Implement a subset of models for ASML flow problem;
- Support your work with proper databasing and documentation;
- Work with open source and/or commercial simulation software packages available at ASML;
- Perform simulation data analysis and provide quantitative data to compare to experiments.
To be a match for this assignment, you:
- Are busy with your master's in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Applied Physics;
- Are specializing in fluid dynamics;
- Are skilled in tooling like CFD (STARCCM+, COMSOL, OPENFOAM, BASILISK, etc.);
- Are solution-oriented and have a hands-on mentality;
- Have good communication skills in English (verbal and written).
