Position Overview
The Medical Affairs Scientist (MAS) serves as the medical scientific authority for Pfizer in the therapeutic domains of Dermatology and Endocrinology. This role engages with healthcare professionals, medical organizations, regulatory bodies, academic institutions, and other stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.
The MAS is tasked with upholding the highest scientific standards, ensuring that all medical and scientific interactions are objective, balanced, and compliant with internal protocols. The MAS will focus on optimizing customer engagement through strategic platform roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Cultivate strategic alliances with both internal and external key stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of Pfizer's therapeutic portfolio.
- Deliver targeted, relevant information to address customer needs, maintaining a leadership position in therapeutic areas at national, regional, and corporate levels.
- Collaborate with prominent scientific Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) at a peer level.
- Influence the scientific landscape regarding protocols and guidelines.
- Identify and act upon clinical scientific opportunities.
- Recognize scientific decision-making units and establish Pfizer as a reliable partner.
- Lead medical communications within the field.
- Serve as a scientific resource for healthcare professionals, medical societies, academia, and other key scientific stakeholders.
- Operate at a national level and contribute significantly to the cluster medical network.
- Collaborate within cross-functional teams to enhance the value of Pfizer's therapeutic portfolio.
- Provide medical-scientific insights to business units and co-develop actionable plans based on customer insights.
- Design and implement strategic medical scientific plans in alignment with therapeutic area objectives.
- Define medical strategy and lead cross-functional projects with various internal stakeholders.
- Oversee therapeutic area-related medical projects, including budget management.
- Adhere to Pfizer's high standards of compliance, ethics, and product safety.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences with 7 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 6 years of experience, or a Master's and PhD with 2 years of experience.
- Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, academia, or postgraduate work, preferably in a related therapeutic area.
- Proficiency in the local language and business English (minimum C1 level).
Competencies
- Ability to assimilate and critically evaluate substantial scientific information, including clinical studies and publications.
- Proficient in conveying complex scientific knowledge effectively.
- Skilled in engaging with stakeholders and fostering sustainable relationships.
- Strong understanding of the drug development process.
- Demonstrated business acumen, including decision-making and prioritization skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical Doctor or PhD is advantageous.
- Comprehensive understanding of the national and regional health landscape, including key players and scientific societies.
- In-depth knowledge of the therapeutic area and relevant medicines.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks governing medical interactions and applicable regulations is a plus.
