Department Insights
The Cleanliness of Parts group operates under the Defectivity Department. This team collaborates with ASML, suppliers, and cleaning service providers to design, manufacture, assemble, clean, and verify components, modules, and systems that meet stringent cleanliness standards to satisfy customer expectations.
To achieve this, the Cleanliness of Parts group develops various measurement methodologies to assess part cleanliness, including a specialized tool for evaluating surface particle cleanliness.
Internship Responsibilities
As an intern, you will delve into the behavior of particle contamination on surfaces and the underlying mechanisms of the verification processes. Your internship will focus on:
1. Creating methods for particle deposition to simulate contamination on various surfaces.
2. Assessing the effectiveness of measurement tools for determining surface cleanliness regarding particles.
You will take ownership of the methodologies and associated documentation, applying your knowledge to contamination assessments conducted at ASML and throughout our supply chain. Additionally, you will have the chance to work in our cleanroom facility.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate for this internship will possess the following qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a degree program in Physics, Material Science, Chemistry, or Engineering; A bachelor’s student (in the process of completing a thesis or apprenticeship) or a master’s student seeking practical experience; Strong interest in surface and interfacial chemistry as well as materials chemistry; Enthusiasm for transitioning processes from research and development to production; Familiarity with software tools for statistical analysis; Experience in cleanroom environments, SEM-EDX measurements, and various spectroscopic techniques (UV/Vis, fluorescence, NMR, FTIR) is advantageous; Excellent analytical skills and a solution-oriented mindset; Strong communication and networking abilities.Additional requirements include:
Availability for a minimum of 5 days per week for at least 6 months; Enrollment in an educational institution for the entire duration of the internship; Residency in the Netherlands for the internship duration.Internship Benefits
