Individual Philanthropy Relations Specialist

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Individual Philanthropy Relations Specialist plays a crucial role in fostering and nurturing connections with potential and current individual donors through personal engagement.

This position is tasked with overseeing, enhancing, and expanding revenue from the established network of individual supporters (including legacy contributors) and potential donors. The primary objective is to broaden the individual donor base, elevate gift amounts, and achieve the annual financial goals set by the organization. A physical presence in the office is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Relationship Management

  • Cultivates and sustains relationships with both prospective and current individual donors;
  • Oversees, develops, and increases revenue from the existing donor portfolio and potential supporters;
  • Manages and nurtures the pipeline of legacy contributors;
  • Formulates strategies for individual donor engagement to secure, renew, and enhance contributions;
  • Employs a moves management system to monitor each phase of the donor experience, including identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and recognition;
  • Contributes to the annual objectives and strategies of the Individual Philanthropy Relations team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Strong commitment to the organization's vision, mission, and values, including a focus on social justice and the rights of marginalized communities.
  • A university degree or equivalent experience in fundraising or relationship management/customer service.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in fundraising or relationship management, with a proven track record of increasing and securing contributions from individual donors and managing a donor portfolio;
  • Personal experience with social justice issues and various forms of systemic oppression.
  • Familiarity with human rights, social justice, environmental advocacy, international development, and/or feminist movements.
  • Proficient in CRM database systems, preferably Raiser's Edge.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Understanding of GDPR regulations and how to manage supporter communication preferences.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in verbal and written English, and desirable proficiency in Dutch.
  • Ability to work with performance indicators and meet fundraising objectives.
  • Capability to collaborate across different organizational units.
  • Strong relationship-building skills; able to represent the organization effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, capable of thriving in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Effective time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
  • Willingness to maintain a regular presence in the office.

OUR OFFER

We provide a full-time position (36 hours) within a dynamic and professional environment at an international foundation dedicated to diversity, solidarity, and justice. The monthly salary for this role is commensurate with experience and is based on the relevant salary scale, with additional benefits including vacation pay, a 13th-month bonus, and a pension plan. This role is based in our centrally located office.
