POSITION OVERVIEW

The Individual Philanthropy Relations Specialist plays a crucial role in fostering and nurturing connections with potential and current individual benefactors through personalized outreach.

This position is tasked with overseeing, enhancing, and expanding revenue from the current roster of individual benefactors (including legacy supporters) and potential contributors. The primary objective is to amplify the individual donor base, elevate the value of contributions, and achieve the annual financial goals set by the organization. This role necessitates a presence in the office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Relationship Management

  • Cultivates and sustains relationships with both prospective and current individual benefactors;
  • Oversees, enhances, and increases revenue from the existing portfolio of benefactors and prospects;
  • Manages, develops, and maintains the pipeline of legacy supporters;
  • Formulates strategies for individual donor engagement to secure, renew, and upgrade contributions;
  • Utilizes a moves management framework to monitor each phase of the donor journey, including identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and recognition;
  • Contributes to the annual strategic plan and objectives of the Individual Philanthropy Relations team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Strong commitment to the organization’s vision, mission, and values, including principles of intersectional feminism, social and environmental justice, and advocacy for marginalized communities.
  • University-level education or equivalent experience in fundraising and/or relationship management/customer service.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in fundraising or relationship management with a proven track record of increasing and securing income from individual benefactors and managing a donor portfolio;
  • Personal experience in confronting injustice and various forms of systemic oppression, including but not limited to sexism, racism, and classism, and their intersections.
  • Understanding of human rights, social justice, environmental justice, international development, and/or feminist movements.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems, preferably Raiser's Edge.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Knowledge of GDPR regulations and the ability to manage supporter communication preferences.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in verbal and written English and desirable proficiency in Dutch, enabling interaction with diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work with performance indicators and meet fundraising objectives.
  • Capacity to collaborate across different organizational departments.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to represent the organization effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, capable of thriving in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Effective time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently while managing a varied workload.
