PhD Position in Radiochemistry: Design and Synthesize a Novel Radionuclide Generator

1 maand geleden

Delft, Zuid-Holland, Nederland TU Delft Voltijd
Job Description

Radionuclide therapy (RNT) is a treatment for metastasized cancer that utilizes radionuclides emitting radiation to kill tumor cells. The project aims to develop a 166Dy/166Ho radionuclide generator to supply hospitals with 166Ho on site and on demand. This project is part of the UNRANU consortium, which focuses on understanding the radiobiological effects of different radioisotopes.

The successful candidate will work on the development of the 166Dy/166Ho generator by combining concepts from nanotechnology and radiochemistry. The research will involve synthesizing dysprosium-based nanomaterials, radiochemical separation to selectively extract Ho-166, and assessing whether the produced Ho-166 conforms to European pharmacopeia standards for clinical use.

Requirements
  • Master's degree in a relevant field, such as chemical engineering, physical chemistry, inorganic or coordination chemistry, radiochemistry, or nuclear chemistry
  • Excellent experimental skills and creativity
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both in writing and speaking
  • Motivation to work in a multidisciplinary team
  • Good team-player and able to work in a collaborative environment
Conditions of Employment

Doctoral candidates will be offered a 4-year period of employment in principle, with an initial 1.5-year contract and a progress assessment within 15 months. Followed by an additional contract for the remaining 2.5 years, assuming performance requirements are met.

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, increasing from €2872 per month in the first year to €3670 in the fourth year.
