Loader Operator Job Description
OCI Iowa Fertilizer is seeking a skilled Loader Operator to join our Ammonia, Urea, UAN, Nitric Acid & Utilities Operations team in Wever, Iowa. This individual will be responsible for product loading and storage operations, working outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate automated systems and mobile equipment to ensure efficient product loading and storage.
- Work extended hours and difficult schedules, including nights, days, holidays, and unexpected overtime.
- Fill in for employees who do not report to assigned work areas, possibly on short notice.
- Knowledgeable in all areas of the storage and loading area, with a strong commitment to safety and environmental policies.
- Communicate with supervisors immediately in case of any abnormalities or process deviations.
- Coordinate and cooperate with other departments for smooth plant operations.
- Assist supervisors in mentoring and coaching new Loader Operators.
- Function effectively in a technologically driven environment, following company health guidelines and policies.
- Maintain a valid driver's license and ensure HR has a copy on file.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- Ability to operate automated systems and mobile equipment.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental regulations a plus.
- Fertilizer experience a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, TEAMS, PowerPoint).
Physical Requirements:
This is a physically demanding job requiring moderate cardiovascular fitness and strength ability for heavy work. The physical requirements include:
- Ability to walk 20,000 steps or more daily on concrete, gravel, and metal grated floors.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Climbing ladders and stairs to heights in excess of 100 feet.
- Working in extreme temperatures in personal protective equipment (PPE) frequently.
- Bending, reaching, and working crossbody with tools frequently.
- Lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
