Join Yacht as a Compliance Officer - Global Safety and take on a challenging role that requires a deep understanding of global safety regulations and standards.
About the Role:We are seeking a highly experienced Compliance Officer - Global Safety to lead our global team of experts in ensuring our brands are protected and promoted by ensuring a high level of quality, safety, compliance, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:- Global Regulatory Monitoring and Interpretation:
Monitor all relevant safety regulations and standards globally, interpret and apply these regulations to ensure compliance across all markets, and maintain a thorough understanding of the EU Safety Commission and other international regulatory bodies.
- Safety and Regulatory Protocol Development:
Create and implement comprehensive safety and regulatory protocols, ensure these protocols are up to date with the latest regulatory requirements and industry best practices, and drive new protocols based on consumer feedback of incidents.
- Training and Deployment:
Train internal teams and stakeholders on safety and regulatory protocols, deploy these protocols effectively across all business units, and assure timely implementation of safety and compliance measures.
- Leadership and Representation:
Lead important turnaround projects in product compliance and market access on a global scale, act at the interface of finished goods suppliers, internal safety compliance teams, and market access authorities, and represent the company at Council level in the European Industry association for Manufacturers of Household Appliances (APPLiA).
- Product Safety and Compliance Management:
Lead the team responsible for ensuring all branded household appliances meet safety and compliance standards, act as the go-to person for any compliance and safety issues, providing leadership for resolution, and monitor safety incidents in the market, drive root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Strategic and Competitive Monitoring:
Monitor the competitive landscape to ensure initiatives and internal requirements align with consumer and user expectations, stay informed on industry trends and regulatory changes to maintain competitive advantage, and well-connected in the regulatory environment.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
Engage with internal and external stakeholders to advocate for safety and compliance initiatives, build and maintain strong connections with regulatory authorities, industry associations, and other key stakeholders, and well-known in the industry for his level of expertise in the home appliances safety and regulatory landscape.
- Quality Management System Oversight:
Represent the company as the legal manufacturer within the certified Quality Management System, ensure that domestic appliances manufactured and placed on the market comply with this system, and maintain a deep understanding of global safety regulations and standards.
Requirements:- Advanced degree in Engineering, Law, or a related field with a focus on safety and compliance, Master degree in a relevant domain.
- Minimum of 20 years in regulatory compliance, safety management, or a related field within the home appliances industry.
- Proven competence in risk assessment, management, and mitigation, experience in reporting safety incidents and managing product recalls, and experience in managing transformational projects.
Next to that, you have strong leadership with project management skills, excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities, change management, and a deep understanding of global safety regulations and standards, particularly within the EU.
You are well-connected within the industry and regulatory bodies, well-networked globally with relevant key institutes, regulatory bodies, or key opinion leaders, and easily connect with executive level leaders.
Business mindset in balance with the restrictive world of compliance requirements, safety, and market access protocols, good understanding of EU Regulatory processes and procedures, and strong networking skills with a natural ability for engaging, influencing, and inspiring others.
Additional Attributes: proactive and detail-oriented, ability to anticipate regulatory changes and implement proactive measures, strong analytical skills to interpret regulations and assess compliance risks, team leadership, proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams, problem-solver, ability to resolve compliance and safety issues effectively and efficiently.
