Role Overview

The HSE Advisor plays a crucial role in delivering expert guidance and support to project teams engaged in offshore wind development. This position emphasizes the importance of health, safety, and environmental management, fostering a culture of safety and compliance across all development projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide independent and professional advice on health, safety, and environmental management to project teams.
  • Maintain and update HSE risk registers pertinent to offshore development activities.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams on HSE matters related to offshore projects.
  • Develop, review, and revise HSE documentation for offshore development initiatives.
  • Support project management in fulfilling HSE responsibilities, including conducting risk assessments.
  • Build and nurture relationships with development teams to enhance HSE culture and compliance with standards.
  • Work with management to devise and implement solutions for HSE challenges.
  • Coordinate HSE activities at the project level, aligning with the broader HSE management framework.
  • Participate in meetings and site evaluations with subcontractors and clients.
  • Assist in evaluating potential project locations and logistics concerning HSE aspects.
  • Support early-stage development activities in both onshore and offshore settings.

Problem Solving and Complexity

  • Evaluate various risk management strategies to ensure effective HSE implementation at local and project levels.
  • Contribute to the development of HSE management systems and safe work procedures.
  • Integrate country-specific inputs into project-wide HSE strategies.
  • Collaborate with project teams to promote a zero-harm philosophy and implement HSE controls.
  • Assess industry standards and their implications for various fleet models and practices.
  • Maintain strong relationships with leadership across project organizations.
  • Engage with RWE’s broader organizational functions to support HSE initiatives.
  • Potentially manage HSE contractors across multiple locations.
  • Act as the primary contact for HSE-related matters.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree in Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Recognized qualification in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in an HSE role.
  • Level 3 or higher qualification in Environmental Management.
  • Relevant audit qualifications and incident analysis training.
  • GWO certification is advantageous.
  • Experience in Wind Construction or Renewable Energy sectors.
  • Familiarity with Dutch legislation regarding Occupational Safety and Health.
  • Ability to adopt a flexible and innovative approach to HSE management.
  • Willingness to travel regularly for project needs.
  • Strong communication skills in English and Dutch.
