Role Overview
The HSE Advisor plays a crucial role in delivering expert advice and guidance to project teams engaged in offshore wind development. This position emphasizes the importance of health, safety, and environmental management, fostering a culture of safety and compliance across various projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide independent, professional guidance on health, safety, and environmental matters to development teams.
- Maintain and manage HSE risk registers related to offshore development activities.
- Collaborate with procurement teams on HSE issues associated with development projects.
- Develop, review, and update necessary HSE documentation for ongoing projects.
- Support project management in fulfilling HSE responsibilities, including conducting risk assessments.
- Build and nurture relationships with development teams to promote HSE culture and compliance with standards.
- Work with management to devise and implement solutions for HSE challenges.
- Plan and oversee HSE activities at the project level, aligning with RWE's fleet-wide HSE management.
- Participate in meetings and site visits with subcontractors and clients as required.
- Assist in evaluating potential project locations and logistical considerations from an HSE perspective.
- Support early-stage development activities, both onshore and offshore, focusing on HSE compliance.
Problem Solving and Complexity
- Evaluate various risk management strategies for practical implementation in alignment with industry standards and regulations.
- Contribute to the development of site-specific HSE management systems and safe work procedures.
- Incorporate country-specific inputs into project-wide HSE strategies.
- Collaborate with project teams to develop and implement HSE risk control measures.
- Assess industry standards and their implications for different fleet models and practices.
- Maintain effective communication with leadership across project organizations.
- Engage with RWE's broader organizational support functions, including procurement and engineering.
- Potentially manage HSE contractors across multiple sites in the future.
- Act as the primary contact for HSE matters within the organization.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Degree in Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- Recognized qualification in Occupational Health & Safety.
- At least 3 years of experience in an HSE role.
- Level 3 or higher qualification in Environmental Management.
- Relevant audit qualifications and incident analysis training.
- GWO certification is advantageous.
- Experience in Wind Construction or Renewable Energy sectors.
- Familiarity with Dutch legislation regarding Occupational Safety and Health.
- Ability to adopt a flexible and innovative approach to HSE management.
- Willingness to travel regularly within the EU.
- Strong communication skills in English and Dutch.
