Senior Software Implementation Engineer Role

The Senior Software Implementation Engineer will lead the planning, organization, and onsite testing of complex technical projects involving multiple system integration points and client-specific development. This role requires the implementer to take projects from concept to final implementation and work closely with project teams in all aspects of software verification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Software Project Management to participate in project planning activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work closely with Software Quality Assurance and Development teams to ensure proposed design solutions align with current product and technical offerings or can be supported by Research & Development (R&D) roadmap.
  • Create advanced test cases for FortnaWES solutions.
  • Provide valuable input to R&D and WCS/WES roadmap initiatives identified from client engagements and feedback.
  • Maintain high-quality project and software design documentation and analysis.
  • Travel to client sites for testing and project implementation.
  • Run onsite test plans to verify logic of new or modified programs.
  • Ensure that any software systems being integrated meet functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications.
  • Assist with Lifecycle Services with high-tier support tickets.
  • Identify and implement process improvements.
  • Guide and train newer software commissioning engineers.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, information technology, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of combined experience in supply chain, distribution, warehouse management systems, and warehouse control systems technologies. AutoStore experience is highly desired.
  • Professional experience in Material Handling Systems and/or Warehouse Control Systems (WCS).
  • Advanced knowledge of network hardware, protocols, and standards, including TCP/IP, FTP, and SOA.
  • Advanced knowledge of database design and file management techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Linux, Microsoft Windows.
  • Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management, client-facing skills, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally in the range of 50%-70% of the time.
Desired Qualifications
  • Four plus years' experience with JSE/JEE technologies including Swing, Applets.
  • Four plus years' experience in application server implementation.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing transactions in J2EE and C++ environments.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of FortnaWES software technologies, methodologies, and best practices.
Working Conditions

When working in-office, there may be periods of sitting at a desk and viewing a computer screen for extended periods of time. The ability to speak and clearly hear, in-person and by telephone; use of hands to handle, feel, or operate standard office equipment; and ability to reach with hands and arms. Employees are frequently required to walk and stand. The noise levels in this work environment are usually quiet. When traveling to client sites, essential requirements may involve a physical presence in various environments and locations. Physical stamina may be required for prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and/or working in cramped quarters. Exposure to potentially dangerous tools and equipment amidst a variety of building materials is probable, as is occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can vary from being relatively quiet to moderate, to excessive. Safety shoes or boots may be required in certain situations. Additional safety clothing including gloves, hardhats, and devices to protect eyes, mouth, or hearing, will be worn as necessary.
