Position Overview:

BI Norwegian Business School is seeking applications for the role of Associate Professor in Business Economics. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in financial management and/or financial accounting. This position is located in Bergen and is affiliated with the Department of Accounting, Auditing, and Business Economics.

The department, comprising 45 professionals, is dedicated to teaching and research across various domains, including accounting, auditing, financial management, logistics, and operations research, at the undergraduate, graduate, and executive education levels. Starting in the upcoming academic year, the department will introduce a specialization in accounting within BI's doctoral program.

We are looking for an Associate Professor to enhance our research, teaching, and mentorship capabilities at the Bergen campus. There is potential for hiring at the professor level for suitably qualified candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

All faculty members are expected to provide high-quality instruction and mentorship in accordance with the pedagogical standards of the position. Those responsible for course delivery are required to update and refine courses to align with advancements in the field and current educational guidelines. BI emphasizes quality and professional development, and teaching activities should be documented to support academic career advancement.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in a relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated academic contributions beyond the PhD level, published in respected international journals in accounting, auditing, financial management, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in Norwegian for instructional purposes.
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring in economics, ideally in business economics.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Expertise in at least one of the following areas:

  • Norwegian financial reporting and bookkeeping
  • Business and financial management
  • Accounting systems and organizational structure

Additional Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with interactive and process-oriented teaching methodologies
  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for contemporary pedagogical strategies
  • Proven pedagogical competence
  • Experience in course and program design
  • Background in business and/or public sector, including research, dissemination, and advisory roles

In accordance with institutional regulations, BI requires educational qualifications for permanent academic roles. Such qualifications should meet the learning outcomes of BI's foundational pedagogical course or equivalent, which can be achieved within two years of appointment as an Associate Professor.
