We are seeking highly qualified candidates for three senior research positions in physics and astronomy at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. As a group leader, you will be responsible for initiating and leading a novel research program, collaborating with industry partners, and supervising a team of researchers.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and lead a research program aligned with the long-term challenges of ASML Research and the ARCNL science program
- Establish and maintain active collaborations with industry partners and other research groups
- Supervise and direct a team of researchers, including PhD students and postdoctoral researchers
- Manage budgets, plan, and ensure the quality of projects within the group
- Publish research in leading international journals and present at conferences
- Develop and maintain external relations, both nationally and internationally
- Acquire national and international financial support
- Contribute to teaching programs at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam
- PhD in physics, chemistry, or materials science
- Working experience and a scientific track record in atomic, molecular, plasma, or instrumental physics
- Willingness to teach at university level and demonstrable didactic abilities
- Preferably experience with the (co-)supervision of BSc, MSc, and/or PhD students
- Ability to attract external funding
- Excellent communication and social skills
- Excellent command of English and willingness to learn the Dutch language
- Experience and affinity with collaborations between industry and academia forms an advantage
