About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Government Affairs Leader to join our team in EMEA. As a key member of our Government Affairs Department, you will play a critical role in developing and executing our advocacy strategy on key EU issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and execution of our advocacy strategy on Eastman's EU Circular Economy initiatives, working closely with commercial teams to drive business growth and protect key product markets.
  • Manage and supervise regional advocacy resources, building key regional capabilities and expertise.
  • Map and expand our advocacy networks in the EU, developing political allies at key member state level.
  • Identify, monitor, and analyze national and EU legislation impacting our business operations and product markets, identifying opportunities to favor Eastman products in legislation/policy, and recommending advocacy and other actions.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment on key issues.
  • Advocate and communicate Eastman's mission, values, and innovation growth strategy to local/national and EU government officials, industry trade associations, and other stakeholders.
  • Represent the company in EU working groups, trade associations, in close collaboration with relevant corporate and business issue experts.
  • Assist the EU communications team in developing corporate and business communications related to policy developments and initiatives.
Requirements and Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a strong background in EU public policy, with at least 10 years of experience in managing EU public policies in a heavily regulated industry. They will also have a university degree in political science, law, or international economics, and be fluent in English and French.

  • Strong knowledge of EU processes, stakeholders, and politics.
  • Experience leading a cross-functional team.
  • High sense of integrity, accountability, reliability, and diligence.
  • Excellent advocacy and communication/presentation skills, both orally and written.
  • Clear thinker, with an ability to make decisions in a complex and fast-moving environment.
