We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our team at the Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management (ESHPM). The successful candidate will work on a project focused on developing tools for making better use of cost-effectiveness analyses (CEAs) in healthcare reimbursement decisions.
CEAs have become increasingly important for informing decisions on the reimbursement of new health technologies. However, the current use of CEA in practice is based on theoretical models with assumptions that are often violated in reality. This project aims to address this gap by developing tools that enhance the use of CEA results to improve reimbursement decisions in healthcare.
The PhD candidate will use a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods to provide insight into relevant research gaps. This will involve conducting interviews with decision-makers and stakeholders, as well as developing and applying statistical models to analyze the data.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in health economics, healthcare policy, or a related field. They will also have excellent research skills, including experience with qualitative and quantitative research software (e.g. Stata, R). In addition, they will have excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to produce high-quality research reports and publications.
The PhD position is offered within the department of Health Economics at ESHPM. The candidate will be supervised by a team of experienced researchers, including Prof. dr. Pieter van Baal and Dr. Vivian Reckers-Droog. The PhD candidate will also have the opportunity to present their work at international conferences and publish their research in top-tier journals.
The PhD position is a full-time appointment, with a duration of 4 years. The salary will be in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU). The successful candidate will also have access to a range of benefits, including a generous pension scheme and a significant discount on a subscription for our on-campus sports centre.
