Project Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to join our team at the Eindhoven University of Technology. The successful candidate will work on developing a framework for fast simulation of engineering systems using a data-based surrogate modelling approach.
Main Challenges and Workpackages
- Developing an efficient method for handling constraints at the subsystem level when generating data-based surrogate models.
- Designing an analysis framework for propagating subsystem errors in the coupled system model and developing new methods to mitigate those errors.
- Developing methodologies for simulating heterogeneous systems while ensuring stability and reducing computation time.
Research Environment
The PhD researcher will be part of the Autonomous and Complex Systems group within the Dynamics and Control section at the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Our team is dedicated to understanding and predicting the dynamics of complex engineering systems, and we are committed to developing advanced control, estimation, planning, and learning strategies.
Job Requirements
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
- Strong background in modelling and simulation, with experience in programming languages such as Python or C++.
- Research-oriented attitude and good communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
