The Position

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Finance Director Controlling to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for leading the Controlling Team and overseeing all departmental activities. Your primary focus will be on ensuring that our financial performance is accurately reported and that our financial plans are aligned with our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Controlling Team, ensuring that all departmental activities are executed efficiently and effectively.
  • Develop and implement internal control guidelines, policies, and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with Hapag-Lloyd Group policies.
  • Conduct and coordinate budgeting, financial planning, investment, and consolidation activities in line with Hapag-Lloyd Group policies.
  • Manage the roll-out of our Performance Management System to monitor financial data and accurate KPI collection.
  • Provide support and analysis to management on commercial, operational, and financial matters.
  • Formulate and develop performance management reporting within Hapag-Lloyd.
  • Regular and ad-hoc analyses of P&L, revenue, cost, and balance sheet.
  • Prepare and present financial reports and relevant documents for Board Meetings.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience as a controlling leader with over 10 years of experience.
  • Experience in P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash flow.
  • Knowledge of terminal businesses, ideally of container terminals.
  • Strong communication and teamwork qualities, with a confident attitude when interacting with Senior Management.
  • Ability to challenge and improve current processes, financial results, and strategic plans.
  • Experience in interdisciplinary project work with different departments.
  • Proven experience as a team leader and genuine interest in developing people and teams.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English (Spanish or German is an advantage).
  • Strong knowledge of relevant BI tools and operational systems.
  • Excellent command of MS Office.
