Project Overview
The Eindhoven University of Technology is seeking a highly motivated and skilled researcher to join our team as a Doctoral Candidate in Quantum Communication. The successful candidate will be part of a prestigious research project focused on the development and analysis of modulation and shaping schemes for quantum key distribution protocols.
Research Objectives
- To design and implement novel modulation formats and error correction protocols for QKD schemes.
- To investigate the information-theoretic security of QKD with finite-cardinality constellations for specific error correction protocols.
- To analyze the susceptibility of proposed techniques and constellations to finite-size effects.
- To increase the state-of-the-art secret key rates and transmission distances in practical QKD settings.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement novel modulation formats and error correction protocols for QKD schemes.
- Investigate the information-theoretic security of QKD with finite-cardinality constellations for specific error correction protocols.
- Analyze the susceptibility of proposed techniques and constellations to finite-size effects.
- Collaborate with industrial partners to develop and test QKD systems.
- Contribute to the development of teaching materials and coach students.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Strong background in digital signal processing, communication theory, and coding theory.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, or C/C++.
- Strong motivation to deliver groundbreaking work and ambition to excel.
- Research-oriented attitude.
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team and collaborate with industrial partners.
- Fluent in spoken and written English (C1 level).
