An Oracle Data Center Technician serves as the technical bridge between our technology teams and the Data Center environment. You will be adept at diagnosing and resolving hardware issues. As a proficient troubleshooter across various technical landscapes, you will know when to escalate issues to the appropriate teams. You will also be responsible for creating and maintaining documentation for the hardware technologies you support. A comprehensive understanding of the equipment you work with is essential. You will have the ability to innovate to best serve our clients while also being receptive to guidance, ensuring meticulous attention to detail. Additionally, you will be expected to enhance processes and introduce automation aimed at simplification.

You will have the autonomy to execute smaller projects independently while collaborating with your manager on larger local initiatives.

This role requires participation in a shift rotation, including standby duties.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate

  • Holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or possesses equivalent work experience.
  • Recent graduates are encouraged to apply if they can demonstrate interest and knowledge in the role, along with a willingness to learn on the job.
  • Has experience in IT infrastructure support and server administration within a mid-sized environment.
  • Demonstrates a proactive approach to resolving customer issues by delving into system details.
  • Has experience in a mission-critical operations environment.
  • The position involves physical demands, including the ability to lift up to 25Kg and may require working in confined spaces or elevated areas.
  • Possesses strong verbal communication skills and the ability to convey information clearly in a virtual setting.
  • Shows a strong commitment to processes and acts as a Process Champion.
  • Exhibits good communication skills (both oral and written) and can interact professionally with a diverse range of customers and staff.
  • Has experience in providing direct customer support and service.
  • Can work effectively in remote cross-functional teams or independently.
  • Is highly service-oriented, reliable, responsible, and self-motivated.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in English.

Required Data Center Experience

  • Experience in racking and stacking equipment, including the commissioning of new racks.
  • Strong skills in structured cabling for both fiber and copper.

Required Systems & Hardware Expertise

  • Proficient in systems administration (Linux and/or Windows Servers).
  • Skilled in hardware repair, diagnosis, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledgeable in networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, basic troubleshooting).
  • Familiar with IT hardware concepts (RAID, SAN, x86 architecture, SCSI, FC, Ethernet).
  • Experienced in base operating system installations and configurations.
  • Knowledgeable in core OS services: SSH, Telnet, RDP, FTP, NFS, DNS, DHCP, etc.

Role Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Act as a hardware support expert liaison to both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Understand internal customer challenges and provide timely technical solutions.
  • Participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all production server hardware at Oracle data centers.
  • Conduct system board-level repairs and fault diagnosis in accordance with service level agreements.
  • Plan and commission new rack positions.
  • Involved in the design and commissioning of new whitespace areas.
  • Structured cabling installation is a significant aspect of this role.
  • Stay updated with the latest technologies and apply them effectively.
  • Adhere to established health and safety protocols at all times.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Availability for travel within the EMEA region.
