Job Title: Senior Research Assistant/Research Assistant I in the Department of Medicine

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced research assistant to join our team in the Department of Medicine at the University of Hong Kong.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform data analysis on computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, proteomics, cytomics, and next-generation sequencing to identify genetic and cytome biomarkers.
  • Carry out integrative mechanistic studies in a collaborative environment.
  • Exploit cutting-edge experimental and computational methods.
  • Prepare scientific publications, grant proposals, and reports.
  • Provide general administrative and operational support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • A Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Biochemistry, or related disciplines, with at least 1 year's post-qualification experience.
  • Research experience in the field of computational biology, machine learning through advanced programming (Matlab, Python, or R).
  • A high level of expertise in analysis of large and complex datasets.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Applicants with less experience or lower qualifications may be considered for appointment as Research Assistant I.
What We Offer:

The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a 2-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave, medical benefits, and free access to on-campus gyms and libraries.
