About the Role
ASML is a leading manufacturer of chip-making machines, and we are seeking a Human Rights Legal Counsel to join our Legal & Compliance Department. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the requirements of the Human Rights program for ASML.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement the Human Rights roadmap and execute on priorities across the organization in close collaboration with key internal stakeholders.
- Maintain the Human Rights policy in alignment with other relevant policies.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments on Human Rights and identify links to the broader ESG landscape.
- Ensure execution of a periodic human rights risk assessment/saliency assessment across the organization.
- Plan and carry out periodic external stakeholder engagements together with the ESG Sustainability team.
- Work on continuous improvement of existing Human Rights due diligence processes in close collaboration with Sourcing & Procurement, Export Control, and the Legal & Compliance Operations team.
- Perform due diligence and/or review due diligence outcomes in specific cases.
- Set up monitoring and reporting processes, in collaboration with the Legal & Compliance Operations & Processes team.
- Participate in investigations concerning alleged negative Human Rights impacts and oversee remediation actions.
- Provide input on Human Rights topics for non-financial reporting purposes under the CSRD and other reporting standards.
- Ensure appropriate vetting and response to queries and audits by external stakeholders on Human Rights topics.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in the field of human rights for business.
- Relevant working experience: at least 5 years.
- Bachelor or Master degree in Law, Human Rights, or other relevant field.
