Lead Instrumentation Designer
Design smart instrumentation solutions for major technical projects
Are you someone who can translate complex technical challenges into practical, buildable designs? And do you enjoy variety in your work? Then the role of Lead Instrumentation Designer might be the perfect fit for you.
In this position, you'll work within multidisciplinary project teams on a wide range of energy projects from large offshore and wind energy developments to smaller but equally challenging onshore installations. Sometimes you'll focus on one major project, and other times you'll manage several smaller ones at once.
As a Lead Instrumentation Designer, you are responsible for producing the drawings and documentation that enable the E/I contractor to build your design. Your scope includes complete fire and gas detection systems, safety systems, process control, and telecommunication systems. You'll collaborate closely with engineers from other disciplines to create fully integrated, high-quality designs.
Within the project team, you act as the technical lead ensuring quality, guiding junior designers, and aligning with other design teams. Thanks to your helicopter view and calm approach, you stay in control even when the pressure is on.
What we expect from you
- A degree (MBO or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- At least 5 years of experience in instrumentation design
- Familiarity with Smart Plant Instrumentation and AutoCAD (preferred)
- Experience with substation projects is a strong plus
- Knowledge of design codes and classification society standards
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Structured, reliable, and able to perform under pressure
