Job Description

As Head of Travel Retail Stores you will lead our duty free retail operations across multiple international locations. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and executing strategies to secure, manage, and optimize airport Travel retail stores. This position will require strong leadership, deep expertise in retail store management, and experience in handling diverse teams across international markets.

This role provides an unique opportunity to influence and shape the success of retail stores at key global travel hubs. Travel Retail will help Rituals grow it’s business and thus play an important strategic role as an additional footprint in our omnichannel way of working, next to our standard Retail stores and online.

This matches you as Head of Travel Retail Stores. For 40 hours per week, you:  

  • Oversee the operations and performance (P&L) of retail stores in our duty free airport shops (50 locations targeted across EMEA).
  • Develop a strong relationship with our partner operated stores and develop future expansion with our key partners.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure maximum customer satisfaction and revenue growth within the airport travel retail environment.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with airport authorities, ensure compliance with airport authority regulations and adhere to the high standards required for airport operations.
  • Lead and manage the tender process for securing prime retail space in airports.
  • Ensure timely and successful negotiations and agreements for new store locations.
  • Develop and execute international retail expansion strategies, considering market trends, local regulations, and customer demographics.
  • Analyze sales data and implement strategies to optimize product assortment, pricing, and promotional activities.
  • Ensure that each store is aligned with company standards in terms of visual merchandising, inventory management, and operational excellence.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular reports to senior management on financial performance, sales trends, and business opportunities.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 3 Area Managers (200+ fte in total) across multiple countries. Set clear objectives, provide regular feedback, and foster a culture of high performance and accountability within the team.

You will be based in Amsterdam together with 32 other colleagues you will be a team member of Travel Retail team where you will report to the Director Travel Retail. Just like you, they have a result-oriented way of working together.

 


Qualifications

High on energy, low on ego and with a little bit of humor. You are also 'one of a kind' because of your energy and flexibility. In addition, you have a strong customer and frontline focus. You love working together with Travel Partners and frequent travel to various international airport locations. On top of this:

  • Minimum 8-10 years of retail management experience, with at least 5 years in airport travel retail or similar high-traffic environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, retail management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in leading international retail operations and managing geographically dispersed teams.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
  • Deep understanding of retail store operations, merchandising, and inventory management combined with strong business acumen and financial literacy.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and navigate the complexities of international business and deadlines.
  • Solid strategic thinking and problem-solving.
  • You allready reside in the Netherlands and have the willingness to travel frequently; at least 2 days a week.
