What to expect

The Ciel Bleu Restaurant located on the 23rd floor of the hotel, offers a panoramic view over the city of Amsterdam and is awarded with two Michelin stars. The ultimate Ciel Bleu experience entails exceeding guests’ expectations in regards to dishes as well as service.

As an apprentice you are jointly responsible for preparing a wide variety of dishes, carrying out mise and place activities and keeping the kitchen clean. Your main tasks will be:

Preparation of dishes according to standards, recipe and planning; Contribute to the development of products and items for the menu; Ensuring and guarding the quality of the end product; Ensuring good quality and freshness of ingredients; Ensuring good quality, taste, texture and color of food items and making adjustments when necessary; Following hygiene instructions.

Don’t worry, you will not be working alone. Besides your own team, you will work closely with all other departments in the hotel. Only by working together can we achieve the best results. The apprenticeship shifts will be from Monday to Sunday, with different shifts throughout the week. You work 4 days a week, 8 hours a day. Shifts will depend on which department you work in and the events being held in the hotel; this can vary from morning shifts to evening shifts. You are also available to work on public holidays.

Click for the salary overview Holidays: 21 days based on 0.8 FTE  Bonus: 1 week salary if all SMART goals are met Travel allowance: From a 10 km commuting distance CAO: The Uniform Conditions for the Hotel and Catering Industry Extensive development opportunities to improve day by day. We offer an online e-learning system with more than 300+ courses. Moreover, we offer specific courses from our Training Manager, such as: Lean White Belt Training and the Extraordinary Guest Experiences training; Room to share initiatives, ideas and improvements, based on the Lean philosophy. Doesn’t matter if you have worked with us for a week, month or year: We want to hear your thoughts; Daily free lunch;  Once per year 50% staff discounts in one of our restaurants (Lucky you); The whole year around 20% staff discounts in one of our restaurants; Great staff events (annual staff party, Sinterklaas, team outings, bootcamp); Vitality weeks and monthly health days; Possibility to participate in competitions; Possibility to do cross trainings to learn more about other departments, for example, take a look at the Japanese kitchen; Employee of the month: receives €100,- net, an overnight stay and a dinner in our Serre restaurant;  Employee of the year: receives a complete trip to Japan After your probationary period, you will receive an overnight stay including breakfast and a drink in our 23rd bar so you can experience our hotel as a guest

You are a student at one of the ROC schools in the Netherlands; You are eager to learn and open to feedback; You have good communication skills; You can express yourself in English (read and speak); You are able to work accurately, organized and independently.
