Background information
ASML is an innovation leader in the semiconductor industry. We provide chipmakers with sophisticated hardware to achieve lithographic patterning of several nm-size microchip features. The unprecedented precision and accuracy of our tools would not be possible without highly advanced optical measurement systems. Furthermore it is vital for us to stay ahead of competition. This is why ASML Research continuously explores novel methods to generate, manipulate, illuminate, and measure light at wavelengths across the electromagnetic spectrum.
Your Assignment
In this assignment you will be doing an experimental investigation into an optical system concept relevant for the future of ASML. You will be working in a creative and stimulating environment at our Research department where you will have a chance to interact with various experts in Optics and Metrology.
As part of this assignment you will be expected to work on one or more of the topics below:
Design and build a state-of-the-art optical setups; Investigate novel light sources and detectors; Provide setup automation to achieve fast and effective measurements; Design and perform experiments, analyze results and draw conclusions.In the process of this assignment you may come up with improvements and new ideas for ASML metrology sensors and applications.
Skills
To be the perfect match for this internship you:
Are a master student in physics, with an interest in experimental physics, optical experiments and hardware control; Have experience with experiment control software, such as Matlab, Python or Labview; Are driven, a critical thinker and have good communication skills; Speak and write English on an advanced level.This is a master level apprentice or graduation (thesis) internship, full-time for a minimum duration of 5 months. The exact content as well as the start date of the internship assignment may be discussed and/or adjusted to the interests and needs of the student.

Your internship will be in one of the leading Dutch corporations, gaining valuable experience in a highly dynamic environment. You will receive a monthly internship allowance of 600 euro (maximum), plus a possible housing and/or travel allowance.
