We are currently looking for a candidate to join our team for the position of: BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) Technology Specialist.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform technical reviews for new and existing energy storage related equipment and systems, including individual components, control systems, and system architectures;
  • Providing and reviewing technical advice on option analysis reports, conceptual and detailed designs;
  • Network and controls area of BESS;
  • Power conversion systems (Inverters & DC/DC Converters);
  • Isolation and power transformers;
  • Medium voltage switchgear;
  • Protection and control systems;
  • Grounding/earthing system;
  • LV and MV ac and dc cable systems,
  • Plant auxiliary equipment, scope of works, cost estimates, cost modelling and delivery plans;
  • Perform energy modeling of hybrid systems that include energy storage plus generation (solar, wind, or thermal) or stand-alone energy storage and interaction with the grid;
  • Support development of internal tools and databases related to BESS technology, performance, and cost of energy storage technologies;
  • Perform detailed technical research related to energy storage modeling, technology development, and manufacturing trends.

Requirements:

 

  • Ability to read and comprehend electrical and mechanical schematics, technical manuals, procedures and regulations;
  • 5+ years professional experience in an engineering environment
  • Knowledge of various battery technologies, including flow battery technologies;
  • Significant experience in BESS design and BESS project delivery, ideally gained in a consultancy environment;
  • Strong understanding of the relevant standards and regulations for BESS projects;
  • A proven track record in grid-scale, hybrid and off-grid BESS project delivery
  • Experience in installing, maintaining and troubleshooting BESS systems is a plus;
  • Knowledgeable on network and controls, communication protocols, Modbus mapping, IP addresses, network switches, Local/network controllers;
  • Must be flexible, be able to adapt to new situations, practice good self-discipline and have high integrity;
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with clients
