Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Actuarial Consultant to join our actuarial platform transformation project. The successful candidate will play a critical role in converting actuarial valuation and reserve modeling using WTW RAFM software. You will provide expert analysis, act as an advisor for actuarial functions, and help the client and internal teams align on business requirements. This is a high-impact role, where you will interact with senior business leadership and guide actuarial teams on complex business and regulatory challenges in the Life & Pensions insurance sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actuarial Platform Transformation: Support the conversion of actuarial valuation and reserve models using WTW RAFM (Willis Towers Watson - RiskAgility FM) software.
  • Analysis of Client Requirements: Understand the client’s business needs, assess their requirements, and provide tailored solutions for actuarial functions and model transformation.
  • Actuarial Modeling: Assist in the development, enhancement, and validation of actuarial models, focusing on pricing, valuation, and reporting in the Life & Pensions domain.
  • Advisory Role: Act as an advisor to actuarial teams and managers, especially in the area of complex actuarial functions related to the project.
  • Interaction with Senior Leadership: Interact effectively with CXO-level business leaders to understand strategic goals and provide insights on actuarial solutions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work effectively with various internal teams, including non-actuarial departments (e.g., IT, Sales, Marketing) to deliver integrated solutions that align with business goals.
  • Regulatory and Industry Compliance: Ensure all actuarial models and functions comply with local Netherlands and European insurance industry regulations and standards.

Essential Skills:

  • Actuary Expertise: Significant experience in actuarial modeling, advisory, and consulting, with strong knowledge of WTW RAFM.
  • Actuarial Functions: Hands-on experience in core actuarial functions such as pricing, valuation, reporting, and actuarial modeling for the Life & Pensions insurance sector.
  • Modeling Software Expertise: Proficiency in using WTW RAFM software to build and manage actuarial models.
  • Excel Expertise: Advanced skills in actuarial modeling using Excel for data analysis and modeling tasks.
  • Insurance Products Knowledge: Familiarity with insurance products and tariffs in the Netherlands or broader European market.
  • Client Advisory: Strong ability to act as an advisor to actuarial teams and provide guidance on actuarial methodologies and models.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with senior management, business leaders, and cross-functional teams.

Desirable Skills:

  • Professional Qualification: Fully qualified Fellow or Associate Actuary (preferred).
  • Actuarial & IT Experience: Experience working in the actuarial business/IT industry and integrating actuarial solutions with technology.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience working alongside non-actuarial teams such as IT, Sales, Marketing, etc., to drive business solutions.
  • Senior Leadership Interaction: Proven track record of collaborating and providing advisory services to senior management and business leadership.

Competencies:

  • Agile Methodology: Ability to work in an Agile environment, delivering iterative results and adapting to changing requirements.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly when dealing with complex actuarial challenges.
  • Business Insight: Understanding of Life & Pensions insurance business and local regulations, with a focus on business needs and solutions.
  • Client-Focused: Ability to think strategically and provide high-level solutions that align with client needs.

Qualifications:

  • Actuarial degree (or equivalent) with at least 8-10 years of experience in actuarial modeling, advisory, and consulting.
  • Professional actuarial certifications such as Fellow or Associate Actuary (preferred).
  • Experience with WTW RAFM and other actuarial modeling software is critical.
