Technology and Innovation Petrochemicals consists of more than 750 employees across six Technology Centers around the world. The T&I organization supports SABIC’s global businesses in realizing its objectives by providing best-in-class technology solutions.

 

In Europe, the SABIC Technology Center Europe (STC-E) is based in Geleen (The Netherlands) and Wilton (United Kingdom).

 

JOB PURPOSE & RESPONSIBILITIES 
 

As a student, are you willing to contribute to a relevant area of research in the field of application development for polyolefin materials? At the Global Polymer technology center at SABIC Geleen, we are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated young professional willing to be part of a young, dynamic and international team focusing on the development of new pipe solutions to address global challenges such as providing clean drinking water to a growing world population, storm water management and the energy transition.

 

We offer an exciting internship project within the Application Development and Industry Solutions department in the Pipe Technology team. You will have the opportunity to contribute to a research project focused on the characterizing and testing of new polyolefin pipes produced by novel polymer processing techniques.

 

This internship includes tasks such as:

  • Work in a multidisciplinary setting within the SABIC Technology & Innovation organization where you will collaborate with different disciplines and use state-of-the-art equipment for pipe production and characterization/testing.
  • Literature study of articles/prior arts to identify subjective and objective methods of polymers processing and properties. 
  • Identify the appropriate testing methods to evaluate pipe performance properties.
  • Benchmarking of the selected materials to assess key properties influencing the PO pipes with representative testing methods
  • Perform basic resin characterization and Material analysis, for example GPC, DSC, DMA, etc.
  • Production of pipes on novel pilot scale equipment
  • Characterization of the morphology at different stages of the pipe production using WAXD, SAXS and IR analysis.
  • Perform data analysis and summarize the findings in a final internship report and presentation to an internal SABIC audience.  

 

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Strong in both written and verbal communication in English. 
  • Bachelor or Master student chemical or mechanical engineering.  
  • You are curious and investigative and have hands-on mentality and work structured.
  • You are able to connect easy to others and can adept well in an international environment.
  • Self-driven
