On behalf of our client, the European Space Agency, we are looking for a skilled Optical Engineer to join our team at the esteemed ESA-ESTEC site, in the Netherlands. 

Main Responsibilities

As a  Optical Engineer  you will concentrate your activities on the following:

Translation of optical payload performance requirements into optical systems specifications. Conceptual design of optical systems, as telescopes, spectrometers. Optical design analysis and verification including optical tolerances analyses. Assessment of opto-mechanical layouts. Definition of plans for experimental validation and calibration of optical systems. Evaluation and analysis of test results. Verification of high precision optical components technology developments.

Successful Candidate

Do you think you are the person we are looking for? See below what experience or knowledge you should bring :

Master or PhD in Physics or Optical Engineering. At least 4 years of relevant experience. Project and/or industrial experience in the design, engineering and testing of various type of optical instrumentation. Good working knowledge of ZEMAX and/or CODE V (and preferably also ASAP). Hands-on experience in optical manufacturing techniques, alignment and tolerancing. Excellent interpersonal skills are needed, together with a high degree organizational and communication abilities, and comfortable with working in a diverse and multinational team environment. Proficient in the English language, both written and spoken. Knowledge of another EU member state language is an asset. Candidates must be eligible to work in the EU.
