TheWHOhasrecentlypublishedafungalpathogenprioritylist,including4pathogensthatareconsideredcriticalregardingresistanceandclinicalimplicationsformanagement. 

Aspergillusfumigatusisoneofthe4listedcriticalpathogensduetoemergingresistancetoazoles,globalspreadofresistanceandtheimpactofresistanceontreatmentoutcome.TheIMPROVE-ASPprojectwillinvestigatenewmethodstodetectazoleresistancegenotypesinclinicalsamples,whichisnecessaryduetoincreasingvariationinresistancegenotypes.Wewillusewholegenomesequencingandgeneeditingstudiestocharacterizemutations.

Ourstudyinvolvesinternationalcollaborationswithsixpartners.Organizationally,youwillworkonmultipleresearchtasksthatmayincludelaboratorywork,bioinformaticanalyses,administrativeduties(checkingandupdatingprotocolsandcoordinationofactivities),communications,preparation,andimplementation.Moreover,youwillworktogetherwithateamofexpertsingenetics,molecularandclinicalmycology.

Activitiesandresponsibilities Setupgeneeditingexperiments.WewilluseCRISPR-Castechnologytodeterminetheimpactofshortnucleotidepolymorphismsinthecyp51A-geneontheazolephenotype. Bioinformaticdataanalysis.  Technicalvalidationexperiments.Anewsequence-based(suchasRC-PCR)willbedevelopedtoenablethedetectionofgenotyperesistancevariantsinclinicalspecimens.Wealsoaimtoimprovethesensitivityofresistancedetection. Projectcoordinationwithinternationalpartners.  Developandtestresearchhypothesesandpreparetheresearchforpublication. Presenttheworkatseminarswithintheunitandatexternalmeetings. ContributetotheMycologyCentersofExpertisescientificcommunitythroughcollaborations,workshopsandtalks.

YouhaveaPhDinMedicalMycologyorrelatedfield(eitherawardedorabouttosubmit).Furthermoreyouhaveexperienceworkingwithfungiandbackgroundknowledgeandexperienceinbioinformatics. Youhaveademonstrableinterestintranslationalresearch.
