Business Development & Partnerships Manager (On-Site)
Pearl Abyss, the leading videogames developer and publisher behind the highly acclaimed Black Desert franchise and upcoming titles such as Crimson Desert and DokeV is seeking a high-performing, innovative, results-oriented Business Development & Partnership Manager to help develop our intellectual properties across all verticals, build strategic partnerships and build merchandise and licensing plans for the EMEA service region.
As a Business Development & Partnership Manager you will lead the EMEA company’s business development and partnership deals from planning to execution. You will work closely with Marketing, Content Production, PR, and Live-Service Teams to ensure all partnership deals and IP licensing strategies are well-aligned with the overall business goals. You will act as the main point of contact for current and new partners in EMEA.
You will join a dedicated team working across multiple communities, platforms and games such as Black Desert and upcoming releases such as Crimson Desert, DokeV and PLAN 8 in a fun, fast paced environment. This position offers an unparalleled opportunity to ensure all Pearl Abyss current and future titles will achieve EMEA goals.
Requirements
- Create an outbound licensing plan across all verticals (Entertainment, FMCG, Luxury goods, Apparel, etc), identifying key partnership opportunities within EMEA that will enhance the visibility of our brands and add value to Pearl Abyss.
- Develop and execute the EMEA merchandise plan, including manufacturing, billing and logistics.
- Investigate and make recommendations on inbound licensing and/or barter deal opportunities that can enhance the visibility of Pearl Abyss’ brands.
- Support Pearl Abyss titles and brands with continuous insights and research focused on optimising reach, brand value and growth. Be the finger on the pulse and make recommendations regarding the current and future video game industry trends,
- Provide frequent strategic partnership reports, tracking KPIs and provide analysis of Pearl Abyss partnerships, along with competitor activity reviews.
- Support the PR & Marketing team with research and maintain contact with existing and new agencies and help in overall negotiations.
- Ad-hoc merchandise production for PR activations and/or trade events.
- Manage and liaise with our external licensing agency and act as a soundboard as well as advocate on interesting business proposals.
- Keep in close communications with HQ and Los Angeles based business development teams and frequently update them on new opportunities and progress.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of two years experience in video game industry, especially in business development, IP licensing, partnership management and business growth strategy fields.
- In-depth knowledge of the video game industry, market landscape, relevant entertainment industries and value chain.
- Strong entrepreneurial mindset and self-starting attitude.
- Strong network in the video game industry and beyond.
- Excellent project management skills with proven ability to drive results; action oriented and problem solver.
- Strong presentation, communication and interpersonal skills. Able to communicate effectively on all levels, including C-level executives.
- Ability to understand, interpret, translate and communicate company business plans, strategy, and objectives.
- International travel may be required for this position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- AAA video games IP licensing experience
- Experience in building merchandise plans
- BSc or equivalent educational background
