Your mission

We are Vertigo Games, developers and publishers of big hit VR titles like Metro Awakening, Arizona Sunshine and The 7th Guest. Our Amsterdam studio is gearing up to start development for a big new project and we are looking to recruit a Senior Gameplay Programmer who can aid us in our mission.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take ownership of a game feature implementation, working closely together with the tech lead to make it fit the complete codebase.
  • Analyze problems and debug them to quickly locate and fix challenging bugs.
  • Work closely with the designers to identify the technical constraints and create fun and engaging game elements for our triple A VR games.
  • Take performance into account so our games and experiences can keep running at a smooth 72+ FPS.
  • Use your knowledge of object orientation, design patterns, algorithms and data structures to program solid technical designs and efficient implementations of these game features and systems.
  • Examine prototype code and come up with production quality systems that are robust and can stand the test of time in an iterative environment.
  • Mentoring and technical guidance of junior and intermediate team members.
Your profile

  • You have worked in the games industry as a Programmer for several years preferably with VR and / or mobile devices.
  • Strong fundamentals in object-oriented programming, design patterns, algorithms and data structures.
  • You have created several projects using a game engine like Unity, Unreal or a proprietary engine.
  • A strong desire on working with new and innovative technology
  • You focus on quality at all stages of development and operation.
  • Commitment to writing clear, well-tested, maintainable, and extendable code.
Bonus points for

  • Knowledge of Javascript and/or typescript
  • Having worked in VR before.

With experienced teams in the areas of Studios, Publishing and Arcades, the company develops, publishes and distributes a growing portfolio of quality VR games that offer a novel, powerful and full-featured gaming experience both in- and outside of the home.

In 2020, Vertigo Games joined the leading producer and distributor of digital entertainment products, Koch Media, now PLAION (a subsidiary of the Embracer Group), adding VR gaming to the Group’s global network.
