As the Front Office/Duty Manager at De Ware Jacob Boutique Hotel, you are responsible for ensuring all guests have an exceptional experience at the hotel.


You will be the face of the Front Office and lead the team in providing personalized guest service and delivering memorable stays. You are responsible for executing various tasks essential to the daily hotel operations, overseeing a young team of approximately 10 people, as well as maintaining excellent communication across all hotel departments to deliver the outstanding services expected at De Ware Jacob Hotel – one of the leading boutique hotels in Amsterdam.

You have:


  • Previous work experience of at least one year in the same or similar position
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills in English. The second language is an advantage
  • Professional attitude and appearance
  • Problem-solving and administration skills
  • Computer proficiency and excellent knowledge of PMS systems
  • Ability to coordinate work across all departments as a team leader
  • A proactive attitude, a hands-on mentality and excellent organization skills

You will:


  • Set a standard of genuine hospitality surpassing guest expectations, lead the administration of Front Desk, be the first point of contact for all external and internal enquiries
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with all departments to support property operations and goals
  • Demonstrate leadership capabilities in decision making, improving performance and motivating employees to provide excellent customer service
  • Make the schedules of the front office department, manage overtime and holiday allowances
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities with efficient communication style, organise work and implement all policies, standards and protocols
  • Inspire and motivate your team members to understand guests’ needs, actively seek resolution of any problems ensuring complete satisfaction of our guests
  • Ensure all guests’ comments, issues and feedback are collected and acted upon to maintain high hotel ratings
  • Ensure that your team assist guests in the friendly and professional manner with check-ins & check-outs ensuring that all special requests are dealt with by the relevant department
  • Conduct regular inspections of the entire facility for appearance, safety, security and maintenance
  • Monitor departmental costs & incomes such as bike commissions, 3rd party reservations commissions, upsell, late check-out and F&B revenues
  • Assist with performance appraisals of the hotel personnel together with the hotel General Manager.
