Job Mission

As a Mechanical Design Engineer you are responsible for the development and application of mechanical designs to meet system specifications and operational requirements.

Job Description

As a Mechanical Design Engineer you are responsible for specification, design, realization and tests of mechanical modules, main frame constructions and service mechanisms, ensuring to meet the requirements in terms of safety, reliability, stability, contamination, cost effectiveness, manufacturability and serviceability, all within the constraints of costs and planning.

  • Translate performance specifications into design specification for main frame constructions and service mechanisms.

  • Based upon specification create concepts, designs, drawings including realization and qualification of your design.

  • Uses state of the art design methods and construction principles to ensure adequate designs that can be realized from a technical and supply chain perspective.

  • Validate concepts and designs by calculations and FEM analysis.

  • Drive the quality of the design by well-balanced concept and design decisions and defining tests including test equipment.

  • Supplier contact for reviews of designs and drawings on manufacturability.

  • Ensure that prototypes are built and tests are carried out.

  • Deliver the technical product documentation that is needed to release the design for volume production.

Educational Level

Technical University Masters or Bachelor in Mechanical engineering

Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a development and engineering organization. Preference with design experience of supporting structures and service mechanisms.

  • Preferred 3 years ASML design experience.

  • Excellent knowledge of design principles for precision mechanics and of designing on stiffness.

  • Experience in the field manufacturability of precision mechanical parts.

  • 3D CAD modeling (preferably NX).

  • Experience with design simulation (FEM) and analytic tools.

Sector Information

Within ASML the sector Development & Engineering is responsible for the specification and the design of the ASML products. The department Mechanical Development is designing, building and testing mechanical systems and sub-systems which are fitted into the end products. As a part of the MDEV EUV Mechanical Architecture department the group Mechanical Constructions Source is responsible for engineering of Vacuum Vessel- and support frame constructions, position and service mechanisms, tools, Source to Scanner connection modules.
