About the Department
The EUV light source plays a crucial role in ASML's advanced lithography systems. The Machine Conditioning EUV Source department is responsible for the specification, analysis, design, and testing of fluid and thermal subsystems, as well as control solutions. Within this department, the Source Infrastructure group focuses on the specification, design, and qualification of gas and cooling water supply systems.
Internship Objectives
Flexible hoses are widely utilized in the fluid and thermal designs surrounding EUV sources due to the unpredictable nature of their mechanical behavior. However, forecasting the mechanical performance of these hoses during the design phase remains a challenge. The primary goal of this internship is to develop guidelines to enhance the understanding and prediction of both static and dynamic performances of flexible hoses.
Your Responsibilities
- Conduct a literature review, potentially involving suppliers, to gather existing knowledge on this subject.
- Create numerical models to simulate the behavior of previously designed hardware.
- Validate the models by comparing results with experimental data.
- Develop specific test cases to confirm the accuracy of numerical simulations.
- Analyze the effects of boundary conditions, part-to-part variations, and environmental influences.
- Thoroughly document your findings and methodologies.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate for this internship will:
- Be enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Have a strong foundation in mechanics, mechanical dynamics, and vibration theory.
- Possess experience in static and dynamic calculations, particularly FEM analysis.
- Exhibit a proactive mindset and a curiosity-driven approach to problem-solving.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
This internship is designed for 4-5 days a week, with a combination of on-site and remote work, lasting between 5 to 8 months.
