Information Technology Operations Specialist

Due to the continued growth of the company, we are seeking a proactive and experienced specialist to be our first dedicated IT hire at Validaide. This is an expert but also hands-on role where you will be responsible for managing, executing and continuously improving IT and security operations. You will continue to develop and implement IT strategies, run information security projects such as the roll-out of AI within the organization, ensure the security and integrity of our systems, and work closely with other departments to support our customers and software development activities. Given the scope of this role, many of the activities will be carried out directly by you, particularly in the initial stages. In addition, you will collaborate closely with Quality Management to seek out synergies with the QMS.
You will report directly to the CTO and effectively take over as many as possible information security responsibilities and activities. You will also lead the internal 'ISMS' focus group which is an in-house group of team members that currently jointly take care of information security activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- IT Infrastructure Management: Oversee and directly manage the maintenance and optimization of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and software applications.
- ISMS Management: Maintain and continuously improve our ISMS to ensure compliance with ISO 27001, including conducting regular reviews, updates, and audits.
- Security Management: Develop and implement security policies and protocols, monitor and analyze security events, performing hands-on tasks to protect company data and systems from cyber threats.
- Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with relevant security standards and regulations (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001) and support internal and external audits.
- Customer Support: Assist customers by responding to security and compliance questionnaires, providing necessary documentation and information, as well as support customer audits.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments, and develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks.
- Incident Response: Lead and execute the response to IT security incidents, including investigation, resolution, and post-incident analysis.
- Direct Execution: Given the hands-on nature of this role, take a direct approach in executing many IT and security activities due to the absence of an immediate team.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in IT and security management, preferably in a hands-on role.
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, cloud, and security best practices.
- Experience with maintaining and improving ISMS in line with ISO 27001 standards, or willingness to learn
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards (21 CFR Part 11, GAMP 5), are a plus
- Proficiency in risk management, compliance, and incident response.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Fluent in English; Dutch language skills are a plus.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
Preferred Skills:
- Certifications in administering e.g. MS Entra ID, M365, etc.
- Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, etc.
- Experience with cloud technologies and security (M365, MS Entra, Datadog, etc).
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the Netherlands and the EU.
