Phd-student - Uncovering Mechanistic Effects of

1 week geleden

Amsterdam, Nederland Netherlands Cancer Institute Voltijd

**Function description**:

- Here we want to study structural and biochemical changes in mismatch repair proteins that lead to mild phenotypes: Predisposition to colon and endometrial cancer can occur due to mutations in DNA mismatch repair (MMR) genes. We hypothesize that some MMR deficiencies only partially block MMR resulting in intermediate activity. Better understanding of their mechanisms could resolve these states and may provide insights how patients with such mutations could be followed and/or treated differentially.
- The project is funded by the cancer charity KWF. Students will enroll in the OOA PhD programme and participate in Oncode Institute. The Biochemistry division of NKI has excellent biochemistry and biophysics facilities, good access to cryo-EM and good computing facilities. The project is executed in collaboration with the lab of Joyce Lebbink at ErasmusMC, Rotterdam.
- **We truly make a difference here**
At the Netherlands Cancer Institute, we have a shared goal: solving the problem of cancer together. Quite a lot, but not impossible. Here, science and health care join forces towards innovation. We keep finding new ways to help people facing cancer on a global scale. Here we save lives, gain time and quality. Thanks to the latest techniques and especially thanks to our amazing talented staff who are curious, precise, warm, persistent, and team players.**Job requirements**:
**Compensation**:

- Your career opportunities will be full-time (36 hours per week) for a period of 4 years. The gross salary per month will range from € 3.523 to a maximum of € 4.277 (standard Dutch PhD student scale). In addition, you will receive 8,33% holiday pay and a fixed end-of-year bonus (8,33%). The terms of employment will be in accordance with the CAO Ziekenhuizen (Collective Labor Agreement for Hospitals).
- **Interested?**
- Applications should include your CV, a motivation letter and the names of 3 references.**Details**:

- Closing date: 08-07-2024
- Hours per week: 36
- Salary level: OIO
