Your Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled researcher to join our team at VU Amsterdam. As a PhD researcher, you will be responsible for investigating how visual attention is affected by interruptions.

Your Responsibilities
  • Conduct a thorough review of existing literature and generate new ideas for research projects.
  • Co-design and implement new experiments to test hypotheses and collect data.
  • Analyze and curate data to identify patterns and trends.
  • Present research findings to colleagues, at conferences, and in publications.
  • Compile research into a PhD thesis.
  • Assist in minor teaching activities within the department.
  • Contribute to the team spirit and help others achieve their goals.
Your Profile
  • You have a research master's degree or equivalent in cognition, AI, neuroscience, or a comparable scientific area.
  • You have demonstrable experience with quantitative research methods in one of these areas.
  • You are proficient in programming languages such as Python, Matlab, or equivalent.
  • You have excellent verbal and written English language skills.
  • You are a team player with adequate communicative abilities.

  • A salary of minimum € 2,000 (PhD) and maximum € 3,000 (PhD) gross per month, on a full-time basis.
  • A position for 1 FTE, with the possibility to extend to max. 4 years contingent on positive evaluation.
  • Attractive fringe benefits and regulations, including a full-time 38-hour working week, 8% holiday allowance, and 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
