Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Nederland Universiteit van Amsterdam Voltijd
Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the Universiteit van Amsterdam. As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will be working on two exciting projects related to optical atomic clocks.

Project Overview

Our team is designing and building a highly reliable optical lattice clock, based on our AQuRA project. This clock will be distributed through fibre links across the Netherlands and Europe, enabling precise timekeeping and unlocking new possibilities in fundamental science and society.

In parallel, you will be working on creating continuously operating optical clocks, including a superradiant clock and a zero-deadtime, multi-ensemble clock. These clocks will aim to achieve a precision of 10^-18 in minutes, revolutionizing the field of timekeeping.

Your Role
  • Design and develop optical lattice clocks and related systems
  • Collaborate with the QDNL team to achieve project goals
  • Contribute to the development of new clock technologies
Requirements
  • PhD in experimental ultracold atom or trapped ion physics
  • Strong motivation to work in a challenging research field
  • Good command of English
What We Offer

We offer a temporary employment contract for 38 hours per week for a period of one year, with the possibility of extension up to 4 years. The gross monthly salary will be between €3,000 and €5,000, depending on relevant experience. We also offer a range of fringe benefits, including holiday hours, courses, and a pension plan.

Join our team and contribute to the advancement of optical atomic clocks and their applications in fundamental science and society.
