Postdoctoral Researcher in Urban Greening and Sustainability

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. The successful candidate will contribute to our research project on urban greening and sustainability initiatives, with a focus on the city of Rotterdam and the district of Oud Mathenesse.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research on urban greening and sustainability initiatives, with a focus on social, economic, and environmental aspects.
- Develop and implement a monitoring and evaluation framework for the research project.
- Collaborate with residents, community groups, and city officials to design and implement greening initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of teaching materials and participate in teaching activities at the department of public administration and sociology.
- Publish research findings in international scientific journals.
- Contribute to the development of the collaboration with actors in the city and region of Rotterdam.
- PhD degree in a relevant discipline (public administration, sociology, social psychology, or related).
- Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Experience with engaged, impact-driven research, especially community-driven research and action research.
- Experience with project and program monitoring and evaluation.
- Familiarity with the literature on program evaluation and monitoring tools, urban greening, community-based research approach, and urban governance.
- Ability to acquire external research funding.
- Motivated to contribute to open and responsive science.
- Excellent communication skills, team player, development-oriented.
- Experience with interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research.
- Excellent proficiency in Dutch and English (both at least at level C1 of the Common European Framework).
We offer a competitive salary, benefits, and a dynamic work environment. The position is for 0.70 FTE, with a start date of 1 December 2024. The contract is for 1 year, with the possibility of extension.
