Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled researcher to join our team at TU Delft and contribute to the development of innovative climate finance mechanisms and adaptation strategies. The successful candidate will work on a PhD project focused on quantifying the national and regional distribution effects of private and public adaptation actions, with a specific emphasis on climate physical risks and socio-economic implications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and apply advanced statistical models to analyze the effectiveness of climate finance mechanisms in supporting adaptation and mitigating climate risks.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of socio-economic and climate scenarios to understand regional vulnerabilities and resilience.
  • Investigate the role of private adaptation actions and climate finance in enhancing economic stability and growth.
  • Collaborate with the Policy Analysis Section and the Delft Climate Action Program to integrate research findings into policy-oriented applications.
Requirements
  • MSc degree in Economics, Operations Research, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g., R, Python, Julia).
  • Experience with statistical data analysis and modeling software (e.g., GAMS, STATA).
  • Domain knowledge in climate policy or damage/risk assessment is an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
