Project Manager Mechanical Engineering

Damen Shipyards is a leading manufacturer of innovative, standardized, and smart-customized designs for the maritime industry. Our goal is to develop, design, and construct a portfolio of tugs, dredgers, and workboats in the most effective and efficient manner, primarily based on series production of (smart-customized) standard designs.
The RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager Engineering Mechanical to join our team. As a Project Manager Engineering Mechanical, you will be responsible for the engineering process and output within your discipline, ensuring a smooth building process. You will manage an engineering team and engineering partners, maintain contact with the client or their representatives, and ensure that the building yard has all the required information and that the necessary approvals are attained.
Key Accountabilities- Manage an engineering team with around five engineers/lead engineers for the mechanical disciplines and support staff, in 4 phases: design check, basic engineering, detailed engineering, and production support.
- Give technical support on projects when needed or asked for.
- Manage Budget, Planning, Quality, and Risks with regard to the engineering of the vessel.
- Contact with the client or their representatives and manage outsourcing of engineering work, ensuring that necessary approvals are attained.
- Manage the integration of purchased systems, equipment, and the interfacing with other disciplines, including requests for quotations and the vendor data process.
- Implement (standard) work processes in your project, organize review moments, and prepare status reports, organizing document control and configuration control.
- Ensure a good working environment and team spirit.
- A Master or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience in managing engineering projects in the maritime sector.
- Preferably experience with standardized shipbuilding and series construction.
- Familiarity with the Rules and Regulations and being able to interpret it and translate it for our projects.
- Experience with software packages such as AutoCAD and Nupas-Cadmatic.
- English is a must, Dutch is a plus.
