Job Overview

We're seeking a Lead Data/Software Engineer to join our Data team, consisting of a machine learning engineer and a data analyst. This hybrid role combines software engineering expertise with an affinity for data or vice versa.

You'll be part of the Software department but collaborate closely with Product, Customer Success, and Strategy teams. As a Lead Data/Software Engineer, you'll contribute to delivering software aligned with our technical architecture and product roadmap, focusing on data-related applications.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing software in line with our technical architecture and product roadmap, as part of a team.
  • Maintaining and improving a fast-growing Business Intelligence platform and various machine learning services.
  • Crafting, deploying, and managing new and existing data pipelines crucial for real-time in-product reporting, driving success behind our SaaS platform.
  • Shaping the technical strategy and providing mentorship to team members.
  • Collaborating with team members, software domain teams, and product management teams to develop data-related products.
  • Integrating and analyzing data from multiple sources to inform decision-making.
Requirements

We're looking for individuals with:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in data engineering using Python and familiarity with software engineering practices or at least 5 years of software engineering experience with an affinity for data engineering.
  • Experience working with relational and columnar databases (including SQL skills) and data warehousing technologies.
  • Experience with data pipelines and awareness of different types of ETL processes and streaming technologies.
  • Experience in stakeholder management and project management.
  • A pragmatic approach to challenges, keeping the team focused and motivated on achieving results.
  • A solid grasp of software engineering fundamentals and best practices.
