Position Overview
The transition to renewable energy in Europe is a significant challenge, aiming to establish the continent as climate-neutral by 2050. Our client is committed to enhancing offshore wind energy capacity, with ambitious targets set for the coming years. This initiative involves the development of a unique program to ensure that energy generated from offshore wind farms is efficiently transmitted to the mainland.
We are seeking an:
Electrical Engineer – Telecommunications
Large Projects Offshore (LPO):
In alignment with the energy agreement and the roadmap for offshore wind energy, our client is preparing a strategic rollout plan for medium-term projects, including the establishment of multiple HVDC Grid Connection Systems. These systems will facilitate the connection of offshore wind energy to the national electricity grid.
Your Role:
• Collaborate with senior telecommunications engineers on network communication topics, focusing on the installation and functionality of operational technology and office IT systems, as well as broadband data transmission and WAN/LAN infrastructure (including copper, fiber optic, and wireless technologies) in offshore wind farm projects;
• Engage in hands-on tasks related to offshore ancillary systems, including VSAT systems, CCTV connections, maritime VHF radio, satellite transmission, public address and general alarm (PAGA) systems, and telephony;
• Oversee quality and progress control of contractors during construction and installation phases, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and specifications;
• Review technical documentation and ensure alignment with underlying specifications;
• Manage functional tests, inspections, and commissioning activities;
• Serve as a point of contact for both internal and external project/service partners.
This position will primarily focus on offshore projects while also supporting the design of new onshore telecommunications concepts.
Candidate Profile:
• University degree (or equivalent) in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field;
• Comprehensive knowledge of network and radio telecommunications;
• Practical experience with commercial communication systems, including SDH technology, MPLS systems, and VoIP systems;
• Familiarity with IP network components (routers, switches, firewalls) and telecontrol/network control protocols (IEC / -104, IEC 61850);
• A proactive mindset, strong teamwork skills, and flexibility;
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills in both Dutch and English;
• Qualification for offshore assignments in accordance with industry standards;
• Willingness to travel and possess a valid driving license;
• Commitment to fostering a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
