About this role

As a key member of our Wind Energy research group, you will play a crucial part in accelerating the energy transition by working closely with experts in various technical fields. Your role will involve taking the lead in research on system integration of green energy, with a focus on offshore wind, and various raw materials, including solar energy, conversion to hydrogen, and storage technologies.

Your responsibilities

  • Conduct research and initiate projects based on your vision of the role of green energy in the energy transition.
  • Develop project proposals in close collaboration with colleagues and partners.
  • Build your network and project-related consortiums.
  • Disseminate results to a wide audience, including government, industry, and research, through conferences, writing papers, giving presentations, and representing TNO.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree or PhD in a relevant field such as applied mathematics, mechanical engineering, computer science, physics, or related disciplines.
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience, such as working with clients and/or consultancy.
  • Experience in applying optimisation models and tools.
  • Experience of working in energy system modelling and quantitative analysis related to energy and/or wind integration.
  • Demonstrable experience of working on projects at organisations offering products or services in the field of renewable energy system integration.
  • Ability to translate complex and multidisciplinary analyses into future business opportunities in line with the TNO roadmap.
  • Excellent command of English, as you will be working in international teams and with international partners.
