Research Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to join our team at VU Amsterdam, working on a project that explores the impact of globalization on the Roman Empire. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Roman provincial archaeology and experience with geo-data management and spatial analysis.

The project aims to investigate the integration of local, regional, and supra-regional socio-economic systems in the Roman Empire, with a focus on the Dutch part of the Lower Rhine region. The researcher will be responsible for collecting and analyzing archaeological and palaeo-environmental data, as well as developing and applying simulation techniques to model the effects of globalization on the socio-economic system.

The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in interdisciplinary research and collaboration, as well as excellent communication and teamwork skills. A demonstrable ability to read Dutch is desirable, but not essential.
