Research Project: Ultrafast Broadband-THz Spectroscopy of Perovskite Materials

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join our research team at the Leiden Institute of Chemistry. The successful candidate will work on a project focused on ultrafast broadband-THz spectroscopy of perovskite materials.

Project Overview

Perovskite materials have shown great promise as light-absorbers and light-emitters in various applications. However, their dynamic disorder and lattice vibrations pose significant challenges for understanding their behavior. Our project aims to investigate the motion of photoexcited electrons in perovskite materials within the framework of dynamic disorder.

Key Responsibilities
  • Construct and use an optical-pump/broadband-THz probe spectrometer to probe the frequency-resolved photoconductivity of perovskite materials.
  • Develop and implement advanced spectroscopic techniques to study the ultrafast dynamics of perovskite materials.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data using state-of-the-art theory and computational methods.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement new research ideas and approaches.
  • Present research findings at international conferences and publish results in peer-reviewed journals.
Requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated and talented candidate with a strong background in chemistry, physics, or a related field. The ideal candidate should have:

  • A Master's degree in Chemistry, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • Excellent proficiency in English, both verbally and written.
  • A strong interest in ultrafast spectroscopy, solid-state chemistry/physics, and perovskite materials.
  • Hands-on experience with experimental techniques and computational methods.
