Tenured Professor in Chinese Archaeology

We invite applications for the position of Professor/Associate Professor on tenure terms or Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Chinese archaeology, with a focus on prehistoric or early historical periods. This role is a collaboration between the School of Chinese and the Hong Kong Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences.
Candidates should possess a Ph.D. in Chinese archaeology or a closely related discipline, ideally with expertise in archaeological data-driven research concerning macro development trends and patterns of Neolithic or early historical societies. A strong foundation in archaeological excavations and proficiency in applying statistical methodologies within the field of archaeology is highly desirable.
A demonstrated commitment to excellence in both teaching and research is essential. The successful candidate will be expected to excel in undergraduate instruction, oversee postgraduate research, and engage actively in collaborative research projects.
A competitive salary will be offered, aligned with qualifications and experience, along with annual leave and medical benefits. The salary tax in Hong Kong is capped at 15% of gross income. The fixed-term appointment will include a contract-end gratuity and contributions to a retirement benefits scheme, amounting to up to 15% of the basic salary. Housing benefits will be available as applicable.
