We invite applications for the position of Professor/Associate Professor on tenure terms or Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Chinese Archaeology, focusing on prehistoric or early historical periods. This role is a collaboration between the School of Chinese and the Hong Kong Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences.

Candidates should possess a Ph.D. in Chinese archaeology or a closely related discipline, with a strong preference for those who have conducted archaeological data-driven research on macro development trends and patterns of Neolithic or early historical societies. A robust background in archaeological excavations and proficiency in applying statistical methods within the field of archaeology is essential.

A demonstrated commitment to excellence in both teaching and research is required. The successful candidate will be expected to excel in undergraduate instruction, supervise postgraduate students, and engage actively in collaborative research projects.

A competitive salary will be offered, aligned with qualifications and experience, alongside annual leave and medical benefits. The tax rate on salaries in Hong Kong is capped at 15% of gross income. The fixed-term appointment will include a contract-end gratuity and a university contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, amounting to up to 15% of the basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
